Two-time Olympic medallist Hellen Obiri joins Boston Marathon elite listing


On Wednesday, Hellen Obiri, a two-time Olympic medallist from Kenya, was introduced as a late addition to the ladies’s elite area on the 2023 Boston Marathon on April 17, becoming a member of an already star-studded area that includes world championship and Olympic medallists. 

This would be the second marathon of Obiri’s 12-year skilled profession. Her debut got here final fall in New York, the place she completed sixth in 2:25:49.

Obiri’s successful streak has indicated that she’s in nice form and now comes into Boston as one of many favourites within the ladies’s elite area. She shall be challenged by 2022 world marathon champion Gotytom Gebreslase, 2020 Tokyo Marathon champion Lonah Salpeter and the girl who beat Obiri final fall in NYC, Sharon Lokedi.
